Vehicle tracking helps insurance premiums
Story link: Vehicle tracking helps insurance premiums
Vehicle tracking is normally associated with larger commercial operations, not least fleet management, but ordinary consumers are waking up to the advantages of vehicle tracking for their own vehicles.
This is especially after Princess Beatrice had her personalised black Mercedes stolen, after leaving the keys in the ignition while getting a drink with a bodyguard, with the car recovered after using a tracking system.
It certainly highlighted how tracking could ensure a vehicle could be recovered faster, and with vehicle tracking costing from around £499 per vehicle it certainly makes an attractive option for those with higher price cars.
This is especially the case as reports suggest many cars are now stolen to order rather than randomly, with more expensive vehicles especially likely to be a target.
A number of car insurance companies recognise the importance of vehicle tracking and how this can serve both as a deterrent as well as a solution if stolen.
The curious thing is that insurance companies make little fanfare about the advantages to vehicle tracking, not least to discounts on insurance premiums - perhaps it’s time to increase awareness?
